There is a limit of 100 seats so please get your reservation to Chairman TED DOYLE through our new website right away.

You may also send in the enclosed form with your payment.

Saturday, September 1st, there will be a tailgate party beginning 2 ½ hours before kick-off of the UT vs. Wyoming Football game. The event is for letter-winners, coaches and WETS members and their families. This year’s event is again co-sponsored by the T- Association and WETS. JILL STERKEL has done a wonderful job of coordinating the T-Association and we are grateful for her hard work in getting this all together. Jill has sent out a reservation card. Email Jill if you did not get one:

This will be the only WETS letter this year. We will be sending you WETS letters via email and posts on the website throughout the year. If you are not on the Longhorn swim network email list or the T-Association list, please contact Jill Sterkel . We apologize to those without email, but this will save us lots of money to be spent on worthy projects? Let us know if you don’t have email and we will mail you a printed version.

$$ WETS Dews are due $$
Thanks for helping Texas Swimming stay afloat. Please pay your dues on the website or send in the envelope with your 2012-2013
donation (plez wets your own stamp to save us some $$$). Do not send more than $100.00(unless you are paying for banquet tickets) as big donations are still needed to help UT swimming by donating to the Longhorn Foundation. Don’t forget to check Swimming and Diving when donating!!!

Our new treasurer, $cott Mactier, reports that we are in good financial condition and have plenty of liquid assets to put on our annual banquet, provide the team awards and Erwin plaques, print and mail this fun letter and help where we can. We appreciate all the work Scott and his bride Karan are doing to help the organization! Our balance stands at just over $15,349.91. That amount includes Louis Manganello and Bill Stapleton’s early payment for their century dues. Your little splash helps us promote UT Swimming and Diving, give honor to our great past and help the future of Burnt Orange Aquatics.

Access T-Room underneath the northwest side of Belmont (Gate 7) then proceed up ramps to the T-Room.

Reservations for the WETS Banquet need to be made through the website no later than August 24th. Please contact Ted Doyle (banquet coordinator) with any questions?

Longhorn Men Impressive Again!

With the leadership of Eddie, Kris and Matt, our Longhorn Men finished just a few points behind Cal in this year’s NCAA Championships. They have now finished in the top two of the National Championships five straight years and have claimed a spot in the top five in 32 of the last 33 seasons. Texas finished with five individual national titles on the weekend, the most since 2004 when UT won seven championships. It is the 11th time in school history the Longhorns have won five or more individual titles in one year. The Horns also captured the 400 Free relay in dramatic fashion. Check out the meet results and stories at texassports.com.

UT Women have new leadership
We are all looking forward to welcoming new head coach Carol Capitani. She accepted our invitation to attend the Friday night banquet and say a few words about her philosophy and the team’s goals. She was an eight-time All-American at Cal and helped coach Georgia to six top 10 finishes for the men and four NCAA Championships and three runner-up finishes for the women. She has been on the job for over a month now and those associated with the program are very impressed. She is working hard to bring in the brightest and best to the 40 acres to light the tower orange. Athletic director, Chris Plonsky wants all of us loyal Longhorn swim fans to know that the search for the new women’s coach was the most collaborative effort she has ever undertaken and that the committee was very supportive and impressed with Carol. Carol’s two young daughters and husband are getting settled in their new home and we wish them the very best.

Swim Center Displays to Honor our Glorious Past:

Former swimmer Lee Jamieson has made a donation to the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center for a display to honor the storied history of swimming and diving at The University of Texas. The project will give credit to those who have lettered, all-Americans, and Olympians. In addition, the history of the program will be on display. The University has hired the graphic design firm of fd2s here in Austin. The goal for the project roll-out is the first week of December, in time for the hosting of senior nationals. Thanks, Lee!!!

Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame News:

Former Longhorn standout Shaun Jordan was inducted in April into the Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame. A capacity crowd was on hand to see Shaun receive this very deserving award. Former Longhorn Coach Pat Patterson and fellow TSDHOF inductee William Paulus were at the dinner to congratulate Shaun. Go to the TSDHOF website to hear Shaun’s acceptance speech and see some great photos of the event.

Charles Logan reports: The Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame continues to add memorabilia and displays to the dedicated hall at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.  Enhancements have been made to the Texas Swimming Pool displays as well as a feature of the Shamrock Pool and a fantastic diving display.  The newest display that is about to go up is the detailed history of the Texas Aqua Carnivals. The Hall is actively seeking donations of any memorabilia such as posters, pictures, awards, etc. that would share the rich history of swimming here in the hall of fame.

2012 Honorees:
Bryan Robbins, Shaun Jordan, Bev Ball, Mike Sorells & Bruce Hayes
