Reunion and Swimming & Diving Updates!
The T-Association and Texas Swimming & Diving would like to thank you for your continued support of the Texas Swimming & Diving program! We appreciate all of those that attended the reunion in early September. I must say, I was proud to see so many swimming and diving letterwinners be recognized on the football field during the game. Check out the video footage from the video board Alumni video
Overall, we had close to 150 letterwinners return for this year’s reunion. Check out our photo gallery on our T-Association Facebook Page. This is a closed group so if you are not a member please ask to join. We hope you enjoyed your time back on the 40 Acres, and hope to see you again in the near future!
Please feel free to pass along any feedback you may have from the weekend; we are open to all suggestions – we do this for you so let us know what you want!
Catch the Horns in Action:
We honored seven great Longhorns with the Frank Erwin Awards. The pictures from the weekend are posted here.
This new Longhorns for Life program encourages letterwinner participation to help continue the legacy of Texas Athletics for future generations. The ultimate goal of the program is to increase the percentage of letterwinners who give back to Texas Athletics and make each sport self-sustaining. I challenge each of you to make a sustaining monthly gift.
All financial contributions as a part of the Longhorns for Life program are 100 percent tax deductible.
A BIG SHOUT OUT TO: Bill Robertson ‘81, Scott Mactier ’81, Darrell Fick ’78, Brian Vance ‘75
We are proud to be part of the Longhorn Swimming and Diving family and especially pleased for establishing the Pat and Jane Kneip Patterson Endowed Swimming and Diving Scholarship. Texas Swimming and Diving has an extremely rich history from the early ’30s to the teams we are so proud of today. The significant contributions and sacrifices made by the Pattersons are big reasons why Longhorn swimming is so successful. Please consider joining us to help Longhorn Swimming and Diving honor two great Texas swimming legends who enriched our lives; Pat and Jane Patterson.
Another Patterson (Steve) recently took over the reins as athletics director. Patterson shared his thoughts with the Houston Chronicle about the future of college athletics and specifically the funding for Olympics sports like swimming and diving at various schools. Simply put, college athletics will be changing and we want to ensure not only that our swimming and diving programs survive but that they thrive. Another interesting discussion took place in New York, a forum on the state of collegiate athletics sponsored by the Big 12 You can watch the full “State of College Athletics Forum” here.
