WETS Spring Newsletter

Dear WETS,

Horns dominate the conference meet… and that’s not an understatement!! For the first time in Big XII or SWC, the Horns won every single event in both the men’s and women’s meets!!! What a meet for sophomore Jack Conger. He won every event he entered and started out the meet with a morning time trial by setting NCAA, American and U.S. Open records in the 200-yard butterfly. Video from the race is available here.

Check out the results, great stories and videos at www.Texassports.com!!! Jill Sterkel & Ricky Berens with the T-Association will keep us updated on all happenings with Longhorn swimming and diving via email, or join the WETS or T Association on facebook.

2015 WETS Dews
WETS treasurer $cott Mactier reports a brisk number of WETS donors. Please go to our membership page, and if your name is not on the list, please send us a little splash of cash for our many good deeds. No more than $100 as more funds are needed to endow swimming and diving scholarships. The Longhorn Foundation has come up with a new reward system, so now is a great time to give to The LONGHORNS for LIFE to ensure the future success of UT swimming and diving! Don’t forget to mark swimming and/or diving!!

WETSPOTS: We could not be prouder of our Longhorn swimmers and divers. I hope you will show your support during this year’s NCAA meets. Looks like the women are going to surprise while Ed, Kris and Matt have the men contending for an 11th NCAA title….stay tuned! I have been overwhelmed by the kind comments and support given to our family since the loss of our mom, Pat Robertson. She died peacefully in her sleep February 6th and has joined Tex in that great pool in heaven. Some of you may remember her scoring swim meets at UT in the ’40s and early ’50s… most remember her for supporting all of Tex’s crazy ideas…most notably, WETS…. We will miss her!! A tribute to Pat’s life will be held at Camp Longhorn Inks Lake, April 25th at 11am. A light lunch will follow in the Chow Hall. Her obituary, guestbook and photo album can be found at www.pathudsonrobertson.com …. Ricky Berens reached out to the ’70s swimmers and divers to support an endowment in Pat and Jane Patterson’s name. Thanks to those who have given generously to this and other endowments or the Longhorns for Life program. Contact Ricky or Jill for more information. With the pending changes in NCAA athletics, these gifts may be the only way to ensure the future of Longhorn swimming and diving. Keep up with the latest UT swimming and diving news at texassports.com and follow WETS on facebook.

Swimcerely,

Bill Robertson
